The efficiency of the 900LX is achieved in part
due to the aerodynamically clean wing with high-Mach blended winglets.
The three-engine configuration provides added peace of mind on long
routes over water. And the central engine virtually eliminates
separation drag aft of the tail cone, allowing a big cabin within a
compact fuselage. The tri-jet configuration also puts
thrust closer to the aircraft’s centerline, lowering critical speeds for
superior short field performance. This is further enhanced by the
leading-edge slats and double-slotted Fowler flaps of the low-drag
wing.
